Before you book

Some problems need a vet straight away, not physiotherapy. Please answer every question.

1. Can your dog stand and walk on their own? Has that changed today? They can't, or they are worse today They can, and nothing has changed today

2. Are they dragging their legs, knuckling (walking on the tops of their toes), wobbly or worse than yesterday? Yes No

3. Have they passed urine today? Are they straining or dribbling? They haven't passed urine, or they are straining or dribbling They have passed urine today, with no straining

4. Have they had a fall or an accident, or been in a road traffic accident? Yes No

5. Is one of their joints hot or swollen, especially after surgery or a joint injection (a steroid injection in the last 3 months counts)? Yes No

6. Since an operation or having an implant removed, have they suddenly become much lamer, yelped, started holding a leg up or had new neck pain? Or, under a bandage, are their toes cold or a pad dark? Yes No

7. After surgery: is the wound weeping, open, hot or being licked? Is a bandage or cast wet, smelly, slipped or rubbing, or are their toes swollen? Yes Yes, and they are unwell No

8. Are they off their food, flat, feverish or vomiting, or passing black stools? Yes, but with no pain and no black stools Yes, with pain or black stools No

9. Are they crying, trembling, hunched or unable to settle? Yes No

12. Are they under 18 months old, with neck pain? Yes No

13. Were they imported from abroad? Yes No

14. Are they having an arthritis injection (Librela or Lenivia) and have new joint swelling, sudden lameness or wobbliness? Or is their lameness creeping back after the injection had helped? Yes: new joint swelling, sudden lameness or wobbliness Their lameness is creeping back, with no swelling No
